Yasmina Hayek

Executive Chef

Yasmina Hayek is the Executive Chef of Beirut-based and internationally present Em Sherif Restaurant, Em Sherif Café, Em Sherif Sea Café and Em Sherif Deli. Being raised in a family of restaurateurs, Yasmina inherited a love of food, tradition and innovation, and has always regarded food as an integral part of both her life and of her fellow Lebanese. Armed with passion from a young age, she prides herself in defying the challenges and stereotypes of being an Arab female in a male dominated industry, and promoting Lebanon for its culture, talent, and potential. Yasmina is today a young, talented and versatile chef with a unique blend of experience both within the constructs of her ever-growing successful family business as well as academic and professional training at some of the world’s best culinary institutions.

Before joining the family business, Yasmina honed her skills at many fine dining establishments, including being the former Chef de Partie at Copenhagen’s three Michelin-starred restaurant, Geranium alongside Rasmus Kofoed as well as Commis at both Le Grand Restaurant alongside Jean-Francois Piege as well as Restaurant Hexagone alongside Mathieu Pacaud in Paris, France. She has also put together VIP brand dinners for St. Pellegrino, McLaren and Carolina Herrera to name a few. Yasmina then took the helm as Executive Head Chef at the Em Sherif restaurant groups. Yasmina specializes in restaurant menu creation, execution, and team training and oversees the company’s social media and content creation strategy as well as quality control of all branches of the restaurant group. She also manages the continuous international expansion of the restaurant concepts in the MENA region such as the UAE, Egypt, and Kuwait, and others notably in London’s Harrods and Monaco’s Hotel de Paris.

Yasmina has been featured in Harper’s Bazaar Arabia, Hospitality News Magazine, l’Orient le Jour, Le Commerce du Levant and many other media publications.  Yasmina graduated from Institut Paul Bocuse in Lyon with a Bachelor’s Degree in Culinary Arts and Management and has a Master’s degree in Food Design & Innovation from Scuola Politecnica di Design in Milan, Italy. She speaks English, Arabic, and French fluently and also speaks Italian and Spanish.  Today, Yasmina is determined to take Em Sherif to the next level with style, innovation, and vision – every time.

Maroun Khoury

Finance Director

Maroun El Khoury serves as the Finance & Admin Director of Em Sherif Holding, overseeing the financial, accounting, and administrative operations of the company. With over fifteen years of extensive experience in the field, Maroun brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his role. Maroun joined Em Sherif Holding in 2013, following his tenure as Chief Accountant at Bureau Veritas, an esteemed international inspection and certification agency. Prior to that, he spent five years at Al Wadi Al Akhdar SAL – Obegi Group, a prominent market leader in manufacturing Lebanese food and products. During his time there as Senior Accountant, Maroun managed various aspects of finance, including stocks, costs, and production of consumer products.

Maroun holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Saint Joseph University in Beirut, a Master’s in Financial Management from University Bordeaux IV Montesquieu in Bordeaux, and an MBA from the Lebanese Canadian University. His commitment to excellence and proficiency in financial management significantly contribute to the success and growth of Em Sherif Holding.

Mireille Hayek

Mireille Hayek, Founder and Chef of SGR Group, spearheads the Beirut-based Em Sherif Restaurant Group, renowned for its diverse culinary concepts including Em Sherif Restaurant, Em Sherif Café, Em Sherif Sea Café, and Em Sherif Deli. With a passion for showcasing the rich tapestry of Lebanese cuisine, Mrs. Hayek opened her inaugural restaurant in Beirut, Lebanon, in 2011. Ever since then, the group has expanded to encompass 22 establishments across the Middle Eastern region, including countries such as Egypt, Kuwait, and Qatar. Em Sherif’s restaurants are celebrated for their traditional yet refined dining experiences, offering guests an exquisite journey through Lebanese gastronomy. Mrs. Hayek’s culinary vision has extended beyond the region, with Em Sherif outlets now gracing iconic destinations such as London’s Harrods and Monaco’s Hotel de Paris.

Bassel Badre

Operations Director

Bassel Badre serves as the Operations Director at SGR since March 2016, overseeing the franchise operations of the Em Sherif brand. His journey with Em Sherif began in 2011 as the Manager of Em Sherif Restaurant in Beirut.Recognizing his talent, Bassel was appointed as the Operations Manager of Em Sherif Restaurant in Jeddah upon its launch in 2014.

Prior to his tenure with Em Sherif, Bassel honed his skills during a two-year stint as a Cost Controller at Le Particulier restaurant in Beirut. He is a graduate of Sagesse University in Lebanon, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in 2010. Bassel’s unwavering commitment and expertise play a pivotal role in driving the success and growth of the Em Sherif brand.

Omar Aoun

Business Development Director

Omar Aoun serves as the Business Development Director at SGR OFFSHORE, joining the team in January 2017 with a focus on expanding the Em Sherif brand through a robust franchising model. His role involves providing support to the general manager in executing franchise strategies and nurturing partnerships. Omar’s expertise extends to assisting franchisees and partners through the development of comprehensive business plans, data mining tools for financial feasibilities, and company valuations. Omar’s journey in the hospitality industry began in July 2012 as an Operations Manager at AB Bar in Montreux, Switzerland. He later transitioned to Beirut, where he assumed the role of HR Manager at CIM and became a shareholder in a pub restaurant, Walkman SARL. In 2016, Omar joined Hodema for a year as a consultant, specializing in franchise and operation development for offshore clients predominantly situated in the Arab world.

Omar holds a Bachelor of Science in International Hospitality Management from The Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management. He furthered his studies with a Master of Science (MSc) and a Master of Arts (MA) in International Hospitality Management from Cesar Ritz Colleges Switzerland. With his diverse background and comprehensive education, Omar brings invaluable insight and expertise to the strategic growth and development of the Em Sherif brand.
